When an ex-boyfriend was in jail, he was living with his aging grandmother. It was winter time and she had trouble lighting the pilots on her heater every day. Without him there to take care of her, I worried that she needed someone to help her. So I called her every day to see how she was and if she wanted me to come help her.

My dad said, "Why are you doing that? She is nothing to you. She isn't your responsibility." I told him, "Because one day, when my kids are grown and not there, and I get old and can't do for myself, I pray to God that I am blessed with someone like me."
